Kindergarten Lantern Festival - 2008
The annual Mid-Winter Lantern Festival is a magical evening for the Kindergarten and Nursery children.
Gathering after dusk, the gently lit hall was overflowing with the children and their extended families as the kindergarteners told a puppet play story of how the stars of Matariki came to be placed in the sky.
Afterwards, the children carried their own handmade lanterns they had prepared during the week, to walk and sing their way through the darkness guided by their lantern's candle light.
More singing, warm fruit tea and home-baking awaited everyone after their journey through the candlelit ‘wonderland’ to end the enchanted evening.
